REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMSTERDAM -- Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir met with the coaching staff of the Indonesian national team in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Monday (27/1/2025). Erick held a meeting with Patrick Kluivert, two assistant coaches Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, as well as U-23 national coach Gerald Vanenburg.
“Meeting with the team of coaches of the Indonesian national team, Patrick Kluivert, Alex Pastoor, Denny Landzaat, and Gerald Vanenburg in the Netherlands. We discussed the progress of preparations for the matches of the Indonesian national team against Australia and Bahrain in March,” Erick was quoted as saying in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/1/2025).
Erick is on a trip to the Netherlands to prepare for Indonesia's team against Australia and Bahrain in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. “With careful preparation, we are ready to give our best for Indonesia,” Erick said.
Before that, Erick also visited the KNVB Campus in Zeist, the Netherlands to meet KNVB Secretary General Gijs De Jong. “We discussed various things including how to develop junior talent and senior football as well as women's football,” Erick said.
At the same location, Erick also had time to chat with Dutch timers' legend Nigel de Jong. The player famous for his kungfu kick to Spain's Xabi Alonso during the 2010 World Cup is currently the KNVB's director of engineering.
“While on the KNVB Campus, I met KNVB Technical Director who is also the legendary player of the Dutch national team, Nigel de Jong. We had a discussion about how the philosophy of football could be applied within a country,” Erick said.
