REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia is ready to export three kinds of tropical fruits, mango, snake fruit, and mangosteen, to New Zealand. The agreement is made after New Zealand opens horticulture market.

"We will try to meet the requirements," Vice Minister of Trade, Rusman Heriawan, said after meeting Australian Minister for Primary Industries, David Carter, on Wednesday.

Mangosteen has the biggest opportunity to enter New Zealand market than other fruits because Australia has already imported the fruit from Indonesia. Data in Directorate General of Horticulture at the Ministry of Agriculture states that the export of mangosteen is growing significantly from 9,093 tonnes in 2007 to 12,603 tonnes in 2011. Meanwhile, the export of mango is raising from 1,198 tonnes in 2007 to 1,485 tonnes in 2011.
