REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono shares Indonesian vision at the Post-2015 Development Agenda in the regional meeting and stakeholder consultation in Bali on Thursday.
"I believe that the Agenda should consider the MDGs (Millenium Development Goals) achievements review and the outcome document of Rio+20 COnferece: the much anticipated Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs)," SBY said on Thursday in his opening speech.
While incorporating the MDGs achievements, he added, the agenda should also define new goals and targets. Secondly, since poverty alleviation becomes the main target of the agenda, he believes that Indonesia must listen more to the aspirations of the poor and address their needs. The step represents the essence of inclusive participation in the work of the Panel.
"Third, the Agenda's framework should include the inseparable dimensions of economic growth, social inclusion and environmental sustainability," he said. Those dimensions must be defined in optimal balance.
Fourth, SBY believes that inclusive growth should form an important conceptual part of the agenda and the concept should define the measures to alleviate poverty, he said.
Lastly, partnership at all levels is critical. "A successful development agenda is only possible through partnership between and within countries, and with various stakeholders," said SBY. Business sector, civil society, and academia are urged to work together, listen, analyze and act on the aspiration and wisdom of the community.
