REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Conference on Wednesday initiated safety fund for Palestine as cash crisis biting.

SBY explained that Indonesia provided capacity building for 1,000 Palestinians. Also, for the last five years, Indonesia has trained 842 Palestinian officials.

"We want to be a part of solution, not in words only," SBY said in the plane back to Indonesia on Thursday. He urged for real aid for Palestine. He said that OIC was different from ASEAN who cooperated in economy. OIC is a special organization that builds solidarity among members.

President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas said that Palestine faced an unprecedented cash crisis, as cited by Xinhua. He said that without the safety network, the situation would aggravate and get even worse.

Meanwhile, Palestine faces a one-billion-dollar budget deficit due to the lack of foreign aid and the withholding of tax revenues by Israel. The Palestinian government had to borrow 100 million dollars of loans from local banks to pay overdue salaries to civil servants who waged strikes in the West Bank.

Held for the first time in Egypt, OIC Conference with the theme "Muslim World: New Issues and Broadening Opportunities" is attended by 26 Heads of States and representatives from 29 countries. Egypt takes over the leadership of OIC for the next three years from Senegal.
