REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Pakistan celebrates its 73rd National Day on March 23. The celebration was also held in Indonesia and led by Ambassador of Pakistan, Sanaullah, in a flag hoisting ceremony at the embassy in Jakarta.
"Despite problems and challenges largely created due to the war on terror and external factors, the Pakistani nation has exhibited tremendous resilience. Today we stand at a much better position as compared to the time of Independence," Sanaullah said in a written statement obtained by Republika. "This is no mean achievement when seen against the backdrop of external and internal issues facing Pakistan at the moment."
According Sanaullah, Pakistan wants to cooperate with the Indonesian government for increasing tourism, investment and business as well as people-to-people contact. The task remains difficult due to rigid visa regime adopted by the Indonesian government, he criticized.
