REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YANGON - Indonesia supports Myanmar to settle ethnic conflict and shares its experience on the issue.
"We have shared our experience with Myanmar," Indonesian Ambassador to Myanmar Sebastianus Sumarsono said and quoted by Nur Aini from Republika.
He said that humanitarian assistance and democratic way could help resolving conflict. Government of Myanmar responded positively to Indonesian effort, he added.
The conflict between Rohingya and Rakhine burst in Myanmar on June 2012 followed by unrest in Meikhtila on March 2013. The death tolls in the worst-affected town of Meikhtila reached dozens and the Rohingyas were forced to seek shelter to other countries.
Sumarsono believes that Government of Myanmar has striven to end the conflict. "The conflict has been calmed down," he said.
