REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Politician and former Head of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Hidayat Nur Wahid, asked international community was no longer silent on the humanitarian tragedy in Egypt. "This action is not just a form of attack against supporters of Mursi, but also shows military arrogance against people who try to assert their rights peacefully. I'm afraid the number of casualties will increase," Wahid said.

Wahid asked international community to condemn, criticize and take actions. Egyptian regime, he said, had ignored the aspiration of their own people. He added that the conflict escalated because the United Nation, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Arab League, and African Union had not done anything to prevent the atrocities. Furthermore, Wahid urged world organization to form independet fact finding mission to investigate the tragedy.

Chairman of Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), Anwar Abbas said the world could not be silent on violence and massacre in Egypt. He condemned Egyptian military forces mercilessly killed hundreds of supporters of the ousted Egyptian president, Muhammad Mursi.

"Egyptian military action reflects an uncivilized regime. They must be aware and correct their undemocratic action," Abbas said on Thursday.

Abbas said the coup was unwise and inhumane way to resolve differences in political issues. He urged Indonesian government to actively assist Egypt not to drag into continuous civil war.
