President: Respect our sovereignty

In a state of the nation address on Friday, August 16, 2013, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asks friend countries not to interfere Indonesian sovereignty.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked friend countries not to interfere Indonesian sovereignty, especially in Aceh and Papua. In a state of the nation address on Friday, he said that both provinces were integral part of Republic of Indonesia.

"We always respect sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, especially friend countries of Indonesia. Therefore, we expect same principles are also applied resiprocally," Yudhoyono said.

Yudhoyono said with respect for sovereignty, relationship of each country could be better established. He did not let other countries intervened and disrupted relationship that had been nurtured.

President added that all forms of propaganda and provocation that interfered sovereignty and integrity of Republic of Indonesia should be avoided. He hopes all parties to actively prevent political activities that potentially disrupt Indonesian relationship with friend countries.

Government has designed special autonomy formula to accelerate regional development by prioritizing welfare approach. Yudhoyono said it could provide added value and a breakthrough for progress in Papua.
