REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- A British professor and political commentator says the US and Israel adore violence and war around the world and in the Middle East in particular.
Welcoming the adoption of President Rouhani's anti-violence proposal by the UN General Assembly, Rodney Shakespeare said; "Iran's consistent peaceful attitudes stand in stark contrast to the viciousness and attacks emanating from the USA and Israel which are no longer respected by anybody in the world."
The United Nations overwhelmingly voted on Wednesday to adopt a resolution that calls on nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.
Based on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's proposals for a World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE), the resolution urges member states to take "appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace and to achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character."
"All in all, the WAVE resolution is a sign of the times and indicative of the determination of decent people to throw out the old, corrupt ways and find something positive and new", Shakespeare, who is also a qualified barrister told IRNA.
