REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- The Philippine government on Monday announced that it will review aviation security measures following the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines plane with two passengers boarding with stolen passports.

Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the Bureau of Immigration will review its procedures in handling passengers.

"I think our security measures are very strict, but certainly it gives us pause to again look into our security measures," Lacierda told a news briefing in Malacanang, the presidential palace.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 with 239 people on board went missing early Saturday en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.

An international search and rescue effort has already been launched to locate the missing plane. Several countries, including the Philippines, have joined the search and rescue mission.

Two passengers were found to have used stolen passports, raising concerns about the possibilities of terrorist attack.
