REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia's and Australia's defense ministers are scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the Fourth Jakarta International Defense Dialog (JIDD) to be held at the Jakarta Convention Center on March 19-20, 2014.

"The Australian delegation is scheduled to arrive on March 18 and it is expected that the ministers of defence of the two countries will meet," the JIDD Steering Committee chairman, retired vice marshal Eris Herryanto, told a press conference on Monday.

Eris did not provide the details of the schedule of the meeting of the two defence ministers, neither did he disclose the subjects they would discuss. He said a number of countries attending the JIDD also asked for bilateral meetings, such as the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea.

"The Netherlands and Papua New Guinea, for example, have asked for time to meet with Indonesias defence minister," he added.

A staff of the defence minister, Soemadi Brotodiningrat, said a number of issues will be discussed in the JIDD, such as terrorism, humanitarian issues and modernization of the defence systems. He said human trafficking was also one of the issues that would be discussed in the meeting.
