President Yudhoyono in Myanmar for ASEAN Summit

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NAY PYI TAW - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono arrived at approximately 2.10 pm on Saturday for the ASEAN summit. The President was welcomed on arrival by Myanmars energy minister, Zayar Aung, before leaving for Hotel Royal Ace, located near the Myanmar International Convention Center prior to the dinner to be held by Myanmarese President Thein Sein, as the host of the 24th ASEAN summit.

President Yudhoyono is scheduled to participate in a plenary meeting and a retreat, along with other ASEAN leaders, to discuss the organizations readiness to implement the ASEAN Community in 2015, as well as other regional and international issues of ASEAN common interest.

He is also scheduled to attend an ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and ASEAN meeting with civil society representatives and representatives of ASEAN youths. Further, after the closing of the ASEAN Summit, President Yudhoyono is scheduled to lead the meeting of the 10th Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asian Growth Area (BIMP-AEGA).

President Yudhoyonos entourage also includes chief minister of social, political and legal affairs Djoko Suyanto, chief minister for economic affairs Hatta Rajasa, chief minister for peoples welfare Agung Laksono, cabinet secretary Dipo Alam and National Economic Committee chairman Chairul Tanjung.
