REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANGKOK -- Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Thursday decided to set up a committee to investigate the assets of former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and several former ministers involved in the controversial rice-pledging scheme.

According an NACC a resolution approving the inquiry, the committee's mission is to find out if Yingluck and the former ministers had accumulated unusual wealth from handling of the rice- pledging scheme, reported the Bangkok Post.

The former ministers to be investigated include former commerce ministers Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan and Boonsong Teriyapirom, together with former deputy commerce ministers Yanyong Phuangrach and Phum Sarapol.

The former members of the Yingluck cabinet, which divided into two groups following their dates of leaving posts, were asked to declared their assets and liabilities to the NACC by June 5 and June 20. Results of the asset declaration are expected to be announced in early July, said the NACC.

Yingluck was legally deposed on May 7 for abuse of powers.
