REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BAGHDAD -- At least 15 people were killed and some 28 others, including soldiers, injured when a suicide bomber detonated his booby-trapped car at the gate of a military compound south of Samaraa, Iraq, police said Friday.

"Fifteen Iraqis, most of them soldiers and volunteers, lost their lives," A police captain, who asked not to be named, told KUNA.

Ambulances rushed to the attack scene and took the dead bodies and injured to hospital.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has been attempting to break in the city for a while and managed to conduct several attacks against army and security forces.
