IDX announces July 9 as stock market holiday

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) makes July 9 as stock market holiday as the day is Indonesia's presidential election. President Director of IDX, Ito Warsito announced it in a press conference on Tuesday.

"July 9 is the election day to choose president and vice president - according to General Election Commission (KPU) regulation No. 4/2014- hereby we announce that tomorrow is stock market holiday," Warsito said on Tuesday.

The Indonesian presidential election will be contested by two pairs: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Jusuf Kalla. A total of 190,307,134 eligible voters have been registered by the KPU for the July 9, 2014, presidential election, comprising 188,268,423 voters in Indonesia and 2,038,711 overseas. Of the total, 95,220,799 are male and 95,086,335 are female.
