REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia must take concrete actions to stop Israel's aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, stated Chairman of International Relationship and Cooperation Commission of the Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) Saleh Partaonan Daulay.

"As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia must be active to take concrete and real steps to stop this violation. Our constitution also mandates Indonesia to actively create world peace," Saleh stated here on Friday (7/11).

He reiterated that Israel's aggression is beyond limit. He considered Israel's actions as not just provocation but categorized it as a blatant attack on one of the most holy places for Muslims.

"If the aggression is permitted, it will threaten world peace, especially in the Middle East region. It will very likely impact other countries," Saleh pointed out.

Earlier, Jordan has complained to the United Nations Security Council about the act of aggression carried out by the Israeli security forces on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, on November 5. Jordan also stated that it will take legal action to stop any further attacks.

Rising tensions in the holy place have resulted in clashes between the Israeli security forces and the Palestinians in Jerusalem during the last week.

Jordan has urged the United Nations Security Council to hold Israel responsible for the act of aggression that triggered a fire and destroyed the mosaics of the mosque's ceiling as well as the Haram al-Sharif cluster tapestry, which is well-known as the Temple Mount.

Jordan has also withdrawn its ambassador to Israel as a mark of protest to the Israeli violence.

King Abdullah of Jordan is the cluster guardian, which was enshrined in the 1994 peace treaty signed between the two countries. The cluster, called the dome of the rock, is managed by the Jordanian government. The Jews are not allowed to offer prayers in this place.
