REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Finance stated that Indonesia would join Asian Investment Infrastructure Bank (AIIB). The move is a way to develop infrastructure in the country.

"We will join, but we still wait for instruction from the president," Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro said on Monday, November 10. President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is attending Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in Beijing. He is scheduled to deliver the decision in that international forum.

Director General of Fiscal Policy Agency Andin Hadiyanto said that it was important for Indonesia to join AIIB as the country needed more fund to build infrastructure. "Besides the funding from Asian Development Bank and World Bank, we will also get the fund from AIIB," Hadiyanto said.

He said, every country joining AIIB had to pay a capital. The amount is ranging based on the agreement. He said the capital of AIIB was about 50-100 billion USD. "Of course, we do not have to pay that much," he said.
