Jokowi encourages the talk on Development Goods

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- Indonesia's President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo encouraged Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders to talk on Development Goods. As cited from the press release, he reminded the leaders for Indonesia's proposal for Development Goods, including crude palm oil (CPO), rubber, rattan, paper and fishery products.

Development Goods are products supporting sustainable and inclusive development. The support for the proposal can help eradicating poverty, elevating farmers' welfare and developing rural. About 50 percent of CPO in Indonesia is produced by 6.7 million farmers, while at least 4 million farmers produce 68 percent of national rubber.

The APEC meeting agreed to continue study on Development Products. Other 12 APEC member countries also put their proposal for products in Development Goods.
