REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- Philippine President Benigno Aquino III Tuesday night condemned the school attack in Pakistan, saying the attack was barbaric and dishonored Islam.
In a statement released by Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda, Aquino said the Philippines joins the world in condemning the outrage perpetrated on innocent schoolchildren, and school officials and personnel in Peshawar and in mourning the loss of innocent lives.
"The senseless deaths of so many young lives, and the barbarism of this attack is an affront to all civilized peoples. Such an act of terror and savagery deserves nothing less than our condemnation. There can be no justification for this tragedy, which has dishonored Islam," Aquino said.
A group of Taliban militants launched an attack Tuesday at an army-run public school in downtown Peshawar. So far 132 people, mostly students, were killed in the attack.
