REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ALGIERS -- Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Monday met with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas.
The two leaders agreed to establish a bilateral ministerial committee to boost cooperation between the two nations.
"We discussed Algerian-Palestinian relations and decided to establish a bilateral ministerial committee that will be in charge of cooperation issues," President Abbas told reporters after his meeting with President Bouteflika.
He further specified that he discussed with his Algerian counterpart the Palestinian issue, in addition to the latest developments in the Arab region.
Abbas, who is on a three-day visit to Algeria, also gave a medal to President Bouteflika to honor his past support for the Palestinians.
The Palestinian leader also held meetings with other senior Algerian officials over the latest developments of the Palestinian issue.
According to the APS news agency, Abbas' visit aims to boost bilateral cooperation, and to boost Algeria's absolute support for the Palestinian people.
