REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- Visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) voiced his appreciation for the Beijing Airport Express Train, which serves as a mode of transportation connecting Beijing city center to the Beijing International Capital Airport.
"We can see how fast and comfortable the train is from the airport to the city center," President Jokowi stated at the Dong Zhi Men station after traveling by the Beijing Airport Express Train here on Thursday.
Jokowi remarked that some major Indonesian cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar should start thinking about implementing the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), or trains.
He emphasized that the work on the mass transportation projects in Indonesia should commence immediately.
The Indonesian head of state remarked that this year, commuter train service should be improved on the Jakarta-Bogor, Jakarta-Bekasi, Jakarta-Depok, and Jakarta-Tangerang routes.
He also discussed about the management of mass transport system and mass transport connectivity in Indonesia.
"For investment, we can cooperate with Japan and China, but the most important thing is that the service must be good and affordable to the public," he noted.
On Thursday, President Jokowi is scheduled to hold a meeting with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jin Ping and Madame Peng Liyuan at The Great Hall of The People.
