Indonesia donates 1 million US dollar for Nepal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government has committed to donate one million dollars for Nepal. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's Press Release, Indonesia sent assistance in the form of medical personnel, rescue assistance, fast food, blankets, tents and medicines.

The amount of such assistance not only from the government's own pockets but also assistance from the Zakat House, Red Cross and other similar humanitarian organizations,

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, has dispatched a team of humanitarian aid to Nepal on Wednesday (29/4). The team departs on TNU AU 737-400 aircraft.

The team composed of Military of Indonesia (TNI), BNPB, PMI, Police, Taruna Hiking Club and civil society. They consist of two doctors from the police, 15 doctors and medical personnel from the BNPB. The next tranche of aid will be sent in the coming days.

Retno said that this humanitarian mission is the relief on first phase which carry two purposes. This humanitarian mission in the context of humanitarian aid and accelerate the evacuation of citizens in Nepal.

Based on recent data on Wednesday (29/4) there are 95 Indonesia citizens who are in Nepal during the incident. They consisted of 30 Indonesians settled on Nepal, 52 visit citizens and 13 Indonesians have been out of Nepal.

A total of 17 citizens were still unknown situation because they cannot be contacted. They comprised seven Indonesians residents and 10 visiting citizens.
