REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) confirmed that helicopter accident in Pakistan killed wife of Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan. The accident occurred in northern Pakistan and killed six people including Norway and the Philippines Ambassador in Pakistan.
Arrmanatha Nasir, spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Ambassador of Indonesia, H.E.M. Burhan Muhammad in a state of injury. “We still keep in contact with the Islamabad and is still looking for more information,” said Arrmanatha to Republika on Friday, May 8.
According to him, the Foreign Ministry continues to make contacts to determine next steps. He said that the chronology or cause of the accident still unknown.
Quoted from Daily Star, the helicopter that crashed was one of three helicopters carrying a delegation of officials to examine the project in the region of Gilgit Baltistan. According to the Pakistani military, they are scheduled to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif there.
The passenger helicopter MI-17 that crash were delegate from Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Netherlands, Romania, Norway, South Africa, the Philippines and Poland.
The deaths are the Ambassador of Norway, Leif H. Larsen, Ambassador of the Philippines Domingo D. Lucenario Jr., Indonesia Ambassador’s wife, Malaysia Ambassador’s wife and two helicopter pilots. The rest of the passengers were reported injured.
