JAKARTA -- Indonesia became a host of ASEAN Marketing Summit 2015. With the theme "Think New ASEAN", this event had been the meeting point of the players of marketing in the region.

World's leading marketing experts also presented, such as Prof. Philip Kotler, known as the Father of Modern Marketing, and Prof. Hooi Den Huan, Director of Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (Nanyang Technological University).

Co-chairman of ASEAN Marketing Summit 2015, Hermawan Kartajaya, said the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will become effective in the end of this year, provides opportunities and challenges for ASEAN countries including Indonesia in conducting competition.

"One of the opportunities is in the field of marketing, namely how to implement marketing strategies and tactics to succeed in the MEA," Hermawan said in a press conference of ASEAN Marketing Summit 2015, Thursday (17/9).

Hermawan, who was also a Tri-Founder of Philip Kotler Center for ASEAN Marketing, said he will also provide "Indonesian Champion for AEC 2015" awards to four Indonesian companies, "Special Marketing 3.0 Award for the ASEAN Secretariat," and the "ASIA Marketing Excellence Award 2015" by ASIA Marketing Federation which will be granted to two companies in ASEAN.

Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya, welcomed this event. In addition to presenting the speakers from leading marketing experts, this events also providing actual topic of discussion about implementing marketing strategies and tactics to succeed in the MEA.

Arief said ASEAN tourism was very bright. Te number of tourist arrivals in 2013 reached 90.2 million with growth of 12 percent. Of the number of foreign tourists visiting ASEAN, 46 percent of them came from intra-ASEAN and other 32 percent were mostly from China, Japan, Korea and India.

"To seize the ASEAN market, it requires tactics and workable marketing strategy," said Arief.
