REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PARIS -- The hostage situation ended Tuesday night in Roubaix in northern France, with three hostages rescued and at least two people arrested, local media reported on Tuesday night.

Around 1900 local time (1800 GMT), two individuals are identified by the police patrol when they were preparing to commit robbery, French TV BFMTV reported.

"Gunshots were fired and two men were hiding in the house that they were going to rob," it said.

According to the police, hostages were rescued around 2200 local time (2100 GMT). At least two people were arrested.

However, police didn't say if there was anyone injured during the operation.
