REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PARIS -- President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana arrived in Paris, France at 22:30 local time, Sunday (29/11). In this city, Jokowi would attend Summit on Climate Change, 21st Conference of Parties (COP), which the opening would be held on Monday (30/11).
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsoedi, explained President Jokowi would attend a meeting of heads of state. The meeting would be attended by 150 presidents and prime ministers from various countries in the world.
The meeting of world leaders in Paris Summit was intended to give political impetus to the signing of a new treaty on climate change.
"The President will participate actively in the leaders' event," said Retno, at the Westin Hotel, Paris.
On the same day, Jokowi was scheduled to hold four bilateral meetings with the Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, and Russia.
Summit on Climate Change, known as the United Nations Framework of Climate Change (UNFCCC), 21st annual Conference of Parties (COP 21), would take place in Paris. COP 21 has significance to talk about the follow up after the expiry of the Kyoto protocol.
