REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A young jazz pianist from Indonesia, Joey Alexander (12 years old), entered the list of nominees for a prestigious music award in the United States, 58th Grammy. The list was announced on Monday (7/12) by the committee on the Grammy website.
Through his album titled "My Favorite Things", Joey was nominated in two of five jazz categories award, namely "Best Jazz Instrumental Album" (My Favorite Things) and "Best Improvised Jazz Solo" (to "Giant Steps" in album My Favorite Things).
The 58th Grammy Award would be held on 15th February 2016 at Staples Center, Los Angeles, US. The event would be broadcast live by CBS.

"My Favorite Things" was the first album of Joey launched in May 2015, when he was 11 years old. The album with nine songs was produced by Grammy winner, Jason Olaine, through a record company based in New York, Motema Music. On 30th May 2015, the album was at 174th on Billboard 200.
Joey was born in 26 June 2003 in Bali and was learning to play jazz by self-taught, from the age of six years old. At the age of 9 years old, he won Grand Prix in Odessa, Ukraine. The competition was followed by 43 musicians from 17 countries.
