REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Some 400 students from West Java's Bandung district will depart for South Korea to take part in a student exchange program.

"In my second term of office, one of the activities we will carry out is to improve relations with other countries, such as South Korea. We will enhance our cooperation with South Korea," Bandung district head Dadang M Naser said here on Thursday.

Speaking to the press after signing an official report on the transfer of post from acting Bandung district head H. Perry Soeparman to him, he said student exchange program is one of the efforts to enhance relations with other countries.

Last year, the district sent a total of 486 students to South Korea to pursue higher education, he said.

"Hopefully, we will be able to send another 400 students to South Korea this year," he said.

He said the Bandung district government will also send migrant workers to South Korea after they attended job-based education and training courses organized by the manpower and transmigration office.

Dadang M Nasser and Gun Gun Gunawan were inaugurated as Bandung district head and deputy district head on Wednesday.
