REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DUBAI -- Five people were injured and a pregnant woman was rushed to hospital when a huge fire gutted three residential buildings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) sheikhdom of Ajman on Monday night, Dubai daily Gulf News reported on Tuesday.

The fire had been under control at 2 a.m. local time, and cooling operations were going on, according to the report.

Fires in skyscrapers have taken place in the UAE in recent months.

On the New Year's eve, a fire engulfed a 63-story building opposite to the world's tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa, leaving 14 people injured and one dead of a heart attack.

On Feb. 21, 2015, the 336.8 meter tall Torch tower, a residential tower in the Dubai Marina district, caught fire and was partially damaged. Seven people suffered smoke inhalation.
