REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ANTARA -- The Gadjah Mada University, a leading Indonesian university in Yogyakarta, is intensifying cooperation with the University of Szent Istvan Godollo and the University of Pecs from Hungary.
The cooperation was realized through the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Gadjah Mada University and the Hungarian universities, which was facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Hungary on Friday (Apr. 8), according to a press statement received by Antara here on Monday.
The cooperation between the Gadjah Mada University and the University of Szent Istvan Godollo is focused on agricultural science. The cooperation agreement between the two universities was signed by Rector of the Gadjah Mada University Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati and Rector of the University of Szent Istvan Godollo.
On the occasion, Karnawati explained that the Gadjah Mada University was not only dedicated to science but also directly involved in the agricultural business sector by collaborating with the tea plantation and agro-tourism company named PT. Pagilaran.
"This form of cooperation is expected to facilitate the delivery of superior products that can help improve the livelihood of the people," Dwikorita pointed out.
In addition to education, the inter-university cooperation also encompasses research programs, exchange of lecturers and students, and seminars.
During its visit to Hungary, the Gadjah Mada University also established cooperation with the University of Pecs, which was represented by Vice Chancellor for Educational Affairs Dr Gyula Berke.
Indonesian Ambassador to Hungary Wening Esthyprobo remarked that the cooperation between the Gadjah Mada University and the two Hungarian universities was a starting point for the realization of joint education and research programs.
