REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEOUL -- President Joko Widodo, who is currently in South Korea, visited the Munhwa Broadcasting Company to study promotional and development activities related to the entertainment industry at the Digital Media City, Seoul, on Tuesday.
During the visit, the president was accompanied by several state officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Masution, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, and Head of the Creative Economy Office Triawan Munaf, according to Antara.
At the location, President Widodo and his delegation witnessed the process of organizing a virtual concert and hologram theatre.
On the occasion, the Indonesian head of state also wore a tradition costume and tried several high-tech virtual gadgets.
During his visit to the CJ Creative Center at the Digital Media City, the president saw the performances of K-POP Ailee and Block B and also held a discussion with the CJ executives.
On Sunday, President Widodo had stated that besides the manufacturing sector, Indonesia was also targeting to establish cooperation in the field of creative industry, such as filmmaking and animation.
He also noted that Indonesia could take a cue from South Korea on how to promote entertainment, art, and culture in the international market.
"We will not take anything but learn how K-POP achieved success at the global level. Certainly, seeing our strengths, it is not impossible that our traditional music and works of art would be able to gain recognition if they are promoted through better branding," he added.
