REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEULABOH -- Rector of the Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UnisZA) Terengganu Malaysia, Datuk Ibrahim Yahaya said the industrialized Malaysia depend on workers from Indonesia.
"If large companies such as the palm oil industry is very rely on the Indonesian labors. About 90 percent of that in the industrial need workers from Indonesia," he said in Meulaboh, West Aceh, Monday (23/5).
He said that after speaking at the "Economic Development and Employment Challenge Conference" with the themed formed graduates of Community Academy (AKN) as professionals in Asean Economic Community (AEC) era.
Datuk Yahaya Ibrahim added, another example is mostly Indonesian workers, especially women working as domestic assistant. When no maids, Malaysia citizens are considered unprofessional.
Although Malaysia receive workers not only from Indonesia, but majority of ethnic and national origin is from Indonesia who work in fields such as industry category, factories, refineries and even a housekeeper.
"I can not said the how much percentage because I'm not making this assessment. But the small sample is every 4-5 houses in Malaysia are has maid, almost all rich people have maid, "he explained.
Currently the government is looking for workers which have the skill.
Datuk Yahaya Ibrahim said, the culture of Indonesian workers that must be changed is expertise because of the number of workers is sufficient.
