REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG -- The Australian government, on Tuesday, deported four Indonesian fishermen hailing from Rote Island in East Nusa Tenggara.
Boarding an aircraft of the national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, the four deported fishermen arrived at the El Tari International Airport here on Tuesday.
"They were among the 10 Indonesian fishermen detained by the Australian maritime authority in January 2016 for illegal fishing," East Nusa Tenggara Office of Marine and Fisheries Chief for Marine Resources Supervision Saleh Goro remarked here on Tuesday.
Goro revealed there were 10 fishermen, and their deportation process was being carried out in phases since May 20, adding that the four were the last to be deported on Tuesday.
