REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government of Indonesia has repatriated the body of an Indonesian migrant worker, who died in Brunei on July 15.
According to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Capital Bandar Seri Begawan made available to Antara here on Wednesday, 42-year-old Suwarno died at the Raja Isteri Pangeran Anak Saleha Hospital at 10:14 p.m. local time due to a ruptured blood vessel in the brain.
Suwarno's body was flown aboard a commercial flight from Bandar Seri Begawan to Surabaya on Tuesday night and was received by his widow Rinawati in his hometown Trenggalek, East Java.
The repatriation process was facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy and the Institute of Indonesian Migrant Workers Monitoring Protecting and Counseling of Surabaya.
The funeral was held on Wednesday at 8 a.m. local time and was also attended by Trenggalek Vice District Head Mochammad Nur Arifin.
Currently, some 10 thousand out of the 11 thousand Indonesian migrant workers in Brunei are employed as domestic help, while the rest are working in various fields, such as industry, mining, farming, and agriculture.
