REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Africans participating in the "International Training on Agriculture for African Countries," organized by the Indonesian government, have expressed appreciation for the implementation of the event.
The training was held in Kuningan, West Java, from March 14 to April 26, 2017, and at the Central Agricultural Training Center (BBPP) Lembang, West Bandung Regency, from April 27 to May 1, 2017, as stated in a press statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
The training was attended by 12 participants from 11 African countries including Angola, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.
One of the trainees from Nigeria, Salisu Mawaida Sulaiman, conveyed his in-depth impression about the implementation of agricultural training activities of the government of Indonesia.
He claims that the training has benefited him to study various techniques for planting rice and corn seeds till harvest, as well as related issues such as irrigation systems and hydroponic cultivation.
Sulaiman hopes that the various techniques and ways of farming obtained from the training can be adopted and developed in his country. He also expressed his greatest appreciation to the government of Indonesia.
The agricultural training was organized by the Directorate of Technical Cooperation, the Directorate General of Information, and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Foreign Cooperation Bureau (KLN) and the Agricultural Training Center of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The agricultural training is an effort by the government of Indonesia to meet the expectations and requests of a number of participants from African countries who were involved in previous agricultural training activities in Gambia and Lembang from March to April 2016.
The government will continue to promote the improvement and strengthen the cooperation with African, including in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, and other related technical areas.
The government also hopes to provide more concrete benefits that are in line with Indonesia's national interests for the capacity development of African countries.
