REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Islamophobia or any prejudice towards Muslims started to decline, US Ambassador to Indonesia, Scot Marciel, said.
"Islam grows very fast in the US and our people have no choice than to accept Muslim as part of us," Marciel said in an interfaith dialog at Sunda Kelapa Mosque in Jakarta on Thursday.
Like other countries, Marciel said that his contry also needed time to accept the Muslim, although he admitted that some American still couldn't accept them. "It is how our society in the process of accepting Islam," he said.
However, the government and Americans realize that in a democratic country everybody has the rights to practice his religion, including Muslim. Now, there are more than 2,000 mosques built in the US.
