REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Eleven Afghan scholars studied Islamic law at the Faculty of Islamic Law, State Islamic University (UIN) of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta for three days on June 24-26, 2013. They are deans from Kabul University and legal practitioners.
"Afghan delegation would like to see the progress of reform of Islamic law and its practice in modern Muslim society in Indonesia," Dean of Faculty of Islamic Law at UIN, Noorhaidi Hasan said on Wednesday.
The discussion took place in three languages, Arabic, English and Indonesian. The Afghan delegation learnt about Muslim society in Indonesia handling contemporary problems for example how Islam views when a woman heads governmental position.
