REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- The discovery of several historical coins in Gampong Panda, Aceh recently, confirmed the middle ages international relation between Ottomans with Indonesian archipelago.
"The discovery of dinar coin of [Ottoman] Sultan Sulaiman Al-Qanuny together with a dirham coin with Ala'uddin Ri'ayah Syah Adz-Zahir printed in it in Gampong Pade recently is a concrete proof of an international relation," said the Central Information for Samudra Pasai Heritage (CISAH) on its Facebook page.
There were several coins discovered in the area which until now have not identified yet.
"Beside gold coins, the people also discovered four gold rings in the same box," Mizuar Mahdi, a Secretary General of Community for Aceh History, said to Misykah.com, a local history site.
He said the box of gold property was discovered in the river facing the land, near a non-extracted embankment.
An archeologist Deddy Satria said, it was not a surprise to see the discovery of so many dirham coins in the area. According to his data, the village of Lampaseh and surroundings was a historical site for the extinct kingdom of Aceh Darussalam.
Abdul Hamid, Chairman of CISAH said, to misykah.com, that his institution currently is still on the focus to do research of the extinct kingdom of Samudra Pasai.
"We are not focused yet on research of Aceh kingdom territory, so we did not have any detail information about the coins," he said.
