REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended Maulid Nabi or the Prophet Muhammad's birthday celebrations held at the State Palace, here on Wednesday.

The birthday celebrations commenced at 8 p.m. and were attended by the First Lady Mrs. Ani Yudhoyono, Vice President Boediono, and Mrs. Herawati Boediono.

Ministers of the second United Indonesia Cabinet, leaders of state institutions, and ambassadors of friendly countries also participated in the celebrations.

During the ceremony, the President was accompanied by Religious Affairs Minister Suryadharma Ali. Regional Representative Council (DPD) Chairman Irman Gusman also attended the function.
