REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JOMBANG -- The East Java Provincial Police will deploy 15 thousand personnel to secure the national congress of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Indonesia's largest Muslim organization, in Jombang district, in August 2015.

"To secure it, we will deploy 15 thousand personnel, not to mention TNI (Indonesian military) soldiers," Chief of the East Java Provincial Police Inspector General Anas Yusuf said here on Monday.

The police has kept coordinating with other parties to check the latest developments related to the agenda of the congress. The coordination is intended to enable the police personnel to do their best while the congress is going on, he said.

Controlling traffic is also necessary to ensure smooth mobility of participants from four Islamic boarding schools where they stay to the congress venue, he said.

"We want the information to be updated everyday because the most important thing is how to make traffic convenient," he said.

He said the police personnel will also deployed to the Islamic boarding schools where the participants of the congress will stay.

To overcome traffic congestion during the congress, the police will implement various strategies, he said.
