REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Alumni 212, Slamet Maarif expects the police will issue Letter of Termination of Case Investigation (SP3) to alleged steamy conversation involving Habib Rizieq Shihab and Firza Husein before the Indonesian Defenders Front (FPI) leader return to Indonesia. He believes the case is another form of criminalization against cleric.
"Insya Allah (God's will) he will return to Indonesia and we hope when he arrive in the country, the legal process that strangled him will finish soon," said Slamet on Sunday (Jan 28).
According to Maarif, he has heard habib Rizieq will leave Saudi Arabia and return home in next February 21
Rizieq was named as a suspect in a pornograpy case that came to light when sexually explicit WhatsApp chats allegedly exchanged between him and Firza leaked online. Rizieq's lawyer, Sugito Atmo Pawiro also requested SP3 due to the lack of evidence presented by the police in his client case. He said at least there must be two strong evidences that should be fulfilled.
However, Jakarta Police has stated they will not drop the investigation. The police said the ongoing investigation had uncovered evidence of criminal activity.
Meanwhile, Secretary-general of Jakarta chapter of Islam Defenders Front (FPI), Novel Bamukmin who also Alumni 212 spokesperson said Habib Rizieq's return on February 21 still can not be ascertained. He said the cleric may come home with notes, one of those is if legal contidition in Indonesia has been judge correctly.
"Insya Allah he will return as soon as possible if legal condition in Indonesia already better so the legal trap that occur to him can be released," Novel said.
