REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Hundred thousand of Muslims in Indonesia participated in a rally of solidarity to support Palestinians or "115 rally" at National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, on Friday (May 11). During the demonstration, the mass voiced their demand.
General Secretary of Coalition to Defend Bayt al Maqdis, Muslim preacher Ahmad Syuhada, read the demand of 115 rally participants. He said United States move to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14 illustrated President Donald Trump's mean stance against Islamic world and the whole world in general.
Therefore, 115 rally participants demanded United Nations General Assembly to have a stern stance against Trump's decision that violated 9 resolutions of UN Security Council. The mass also urged Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Assembly to unite and strongly oppose Trump decision. OIC should stage emergency meeting to respond global Muslims aspirations.
The mass of 115 rally then demanded US Government to revoke its recognition to the existence of Israel and Jerusalem as Israel's capital. They urged US Government to cancel its plan to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem whereas the city is the future capital of Palestine.
The people called on Indonesian Government to fight hard and use its right to press and direct the OIC and the United Nations to challenge Trump's decision as promised by the government through the Foreign Ministry that Palestine is at the heart of Indonesia's foreign policy.
The 115 rally participants called on Indonesian people to unite in fighting Palestinians rights for freedom. "We should maintain ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood) and remain under the guidance of our scholars to achieve the goal of the entire struggle of Bayt al Maqdis, to return al Aqsa Mosque to the Muslims grip," said ustaz Syuhada.
