REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Zainut Tauhid Saadi, hoped that Munajat 212 event held at the National Monument, Jakarta on Thursday, dedicated to maintain brotherhood and nationality. He said MUI must remain as a unifying knot of the people.
"To the MUI of DKI Province who participated in initiating the activity, we appealed to continue to make the MUI organization a node and unite the people, maintain ukhuwah islamiyah, and ukhuwah wathaniyah (brotherhood of the nation)," Zainut told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (Feb 21).
He said, ukhuwah should be maintained in order to realize harmony and unity of the people. Moreover, now the Indonesian nation was entering a campaign period.
"We urge this very noble event to be free from practical political activities, so the sacred value of the prayer and remembrance activities will not be hampered," he said.
Zainut said, prayer and remembrance to Allah SWT were noble deeds, moreover it was intended for the safety of the nation and state. He also hoped that the event would be carried out smoothly, orderly, solemnly, and truly filled with religious activities to get closer to Allah SWT.
Munajat 212 was held on Thursday night at Monas. The participants performed congregational Maghrib and Isha prayers, remembrance and recitation. General Chairman of the MUI Jakarta and the Governor of DKI Jakarta were also to deliver their remarks.
