REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Assisted by Orio Netherlands, Dr Sardjito General Hospital is expected to become International Cancer Center in 2013, the Director General for Health Efforts of the Ministry of Health, Supriyantoro, said on Tuesday (28/2).

He said, the new management of the hospital should initiate the International Cancer Center. “But, we cannot only depend on Orio (Ontwikkelingsrelevante Infrastructuurontwikkeling -Ed),” he said.

Prof I Bing Tan from Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, Netherlands, is the one who initiate the establishment of International Cancer Center in Dr Sardjito General Hospital. He was invited Prof Hido from Netherlands and the former Indonesian Ambassador in Netherlands, Fani Habibie. Orio now pour aid for the cause to the developing countries.

“The service should be at international standard. According to the plan, Orio will provide 35 percent from total cost of International Cancer Center,” Supriyantoro said. The total cost is approximately 15 million USD.
