REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KAIRO – Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) should contribute to the creation of world’s peace and security, the Indonesia Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa, said on the Ministerial Meeting of NAM in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. “NAM should contribute to the political development and democracy, and also contribute to global prosperity,” Marty said.
The vision was proposed for the first time by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Ministerial Meeting of NAM in May 2011 in Bali, Indonesia.
“To create global peace and security, NAM should promote diplomacy, mediate the peaceful solution of conflict, and struggle for peace,” Marty added.
He also said that Palestinian bid for independent state should be the priority of non-aligned countries. “Palestinian independence is not an option, it is a necessity,” he said firmly.
He also urged international community to show their real act to ensure the independence of Palestine according to the border in 1967 where East Jerussalem was the capital city. The closing of NAM’s Ministerial Meeting was marked by the agreement of Sharm El Sheikh Document, Palestine Declaration, and Declaration on Palestinian Political Prisoners which contained the NAM’s view, commitment, and follow up toward ranging global economic and political issue including their support on Palestine.
