REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel will hold a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of Indonesia's Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD. The meeting is scheduled on the next Tuesday after she meets President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the State Palace, as cited in a press release.
Her meeting with Mahfud is important for both countries. As a chairwoman of Christian Democratic Union, Merkel has a long history on strengthening democracy and enforcing law in her country while German and Indonesian Constitutional Court also has build good relationships.
With the discussion on law enforcement, democracy, and Constitutional Court's role on the agenda, both institutions are expected to share their experiences. On her two day visit to Indonesia, Merkel will also visit Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency, Istiqlal Mosque, Immanuel Church, and Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.
