REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan has been hospitalized at a hospital in Singapore since Sunday, after he complained of fatigue. Iskan had undergone heart transplantation on August 6, 2007, in China. His ministry supervises 141 state-owned companies.
"I was considered careless for not taking medicines for the cold I had caught, despite suffering from it for more than 10 days. Now I have been forced to take rest for three days, which will be until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," he said on Monday evening.
"I have a throat infection which led to cough and fever," Iskan explained.
His sickness started when he was on a tour to Mecca (Saudia Arabia), Jerusalem (Palestine), and Iraq. He was supposed to take an anti-meningitis injection before leaving for the trip, but he had not done so.
Upon returning home, despite being sick and exhausted, the minister made official visits to Aceh (northern Sumatra), Pekalongan (Central Java), Yogyakarta and Mount Halimun (West Java). Dahlan said he was planning to pay a visit to Deputy Minister of State Enterprises Sumaryanto, who has also been hospitalized in Singapore, on Tuesday.
