REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia expects Japanese investment on automotive sector to create a roadmap of national policy on public transportation. The Deputy Coordinating Minister of Economy on Industry, Trade, and Tourism Edy Putra Irawadi said that on Monday.

He further said that public transportation on national policy focused on maritime and rural transport as cited on President Regulation No 28/2009. "Indonesia as an archipelago country needs to develop its maritime transportation. Meanwhile, rural transportation is to boost mobilization in rural area," he said.

Investment from Japan and other automotive manufacturing countries must be scaled up, he said. Government has also encourages European investors.

Meanwhile, to boost local production, government allows prominent automotive manufacture to produce spare parts. The step is taken to attract investors to produce car in Indonesia.
