REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Special Task Force on Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migas) announces that state oil and gas company Pertamina will become the backbone to boost national oil production. Pertamina subsidiaries, Pertamina Hulu Energy (PHE WMO) and Pertamina EP in Pondok Makmur, must be able to boost their production, the Head of SKK Migas, Rudi Rubiandini, said.

PHE WMO will increase its production up to 5,000 barrel per day (bpd) in April, while Pertamina EP in Pondok Makmur is expected to contribute to 800 bpd. The current production of Pertamina EP is 120,000 bpd.

SKK Migas predicts the oil production in 2013 is within 830,000 bpd to 850,000 bpd, failing to reach the target in state budget 2013, which is 900,000 bpd.

Executive Director of Pertamina EP, Syamsul Alam, said Pondok Makmur Area had not produced optimally due to the problems in gas pipe, but he promised that it would produce more in March and April. Pertamina EP sets the target of oil production in 132,000 bpd.
