REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Several Muslim entrepreneurs are on the list of Forbes' 40 richest people in Indonesia. Among others are Chairul Tanjung, Achmad Hamami, Garibaldi Thohir, and Aksa Mahmud.
The owner of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung, is on the fifth position, move forward from the eleventh, with 3.4 billion USD of wealth. An entrepreneur on heavy duty vehicles, Achmad Hamami, sits on number 16 with net wealth worth 1.7 billion USD.
The owner of Adaro Indonesia, Garibaldi Thohir, is also still on the list even though he has to go down from 18 to 28. His wealth is 1.5 billion USD.
The Chairman of Saratoga Group, Sandiaga Uno, said that they were the inspiration for young entrepreneurs among Muslims in Indonesia. "Indonesia with great Muslim population must have generated great entrepreneurs," he said on Sunday.
